What does it mean today to organize an international arts festival in Klaipėda and the surrounding region? Does “internationality” refer to the number of foreign artists in the program, or rather to long-term creative connections, exchanges, and new ideas? How does an international festival in Klaipėda differ from a similar festival in Vilnius? How important are the local audience, the city’s cultural life, and the region’s identity to the festival?

Organizers of various festivals in Klaipėda will come together for a discussion. We will talk about the survival of festivals, funding models, audience growth, the significance of internationalization, competition and cooperation, and the role that international festivals can play not only in Klaipėda but also throughout the western region of Lithuania.
