The Year of Lithuania in Germany: Presentation of the Principles for Developing the Cultural Program

The cultural community will be presented with the principles, objectives, conceptual guidelines, and planned funding model for the upcoming Lithuanian Year in Germany cultural program.

The presentation will be attended by:
Matas Drukteinis, Deputy Minister of Culture;
Rita Valiukonytė, Head of the Lithuanian Year in Germany Cultural Program (LKI), who will participate remotely; and
Rūta Nanartavičiūtė, Head of the International Programs Division (LKI).

The cultural program “Time – Space – People,” organized in cooperation with Lithuanian and German cultural institutions and organizations, is scheduled to be implemented in 2027–2028, with the main focus on 2027 and 2028 dedicated to the continuation of activities and the consolidation of results. 

Through our cultural program, we aim to achieve the following goals: 

  • develop formats for intercultural communication that strengthen creative exchanges between people in Lithuania and Germany; 
  • to forge long-term relationships and partnerships based on shared European values and shared (albeit diverse) experiences, everyday life, and visions for the future; 
  • to raise awareness of Lithuania as a European neighbor in Germany and to promote an understanding of Lithuanian culture. 

Organizer: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania. 

Organizer: LKI/Cultural Attaché of the Republic of Lithuania, in close cooperation with Lithuanian diplomatic missions in Germany.
