Taško Theater: Phantasmagorical comedy "Prestigious Profession"
Idea for Lithuania: Teaching as a prestigious profession by 2025. Is this realistic?
"Long, long, long ago, when all the books in the world had already been conceived but not yet written, there was a City of Seven Sages in this world. It was inhabited by polite, community-minded, creative, curious people who liked to form societies: book readers, knitters, gardeners, herbalists, geographers, carpenters, artists, poets…
The townspeople lived happily until one day something unexpected happened: on a bright Sunday afternoon, a huge shadow covered the sky. Looking up at the sky, the people saw a giant… carp! The carp swam past the town's beautiful gardens without even looking around, and when it reached the townspeople's pride and joy—the school—it stopped and smiled.
Then he opened his mouth—hamt—and swallowed the school!
The comedy Prestigious Profession is a colorful and surrealistic depiction of a party during which the characters ask questions: What kind of school do we remember? Would we want our children to attend the same kind of school? What are our dream professions? Not a teacher? Why not a teacher?
During the creation of the performance, the creative team delved not only into the grand plans of the state, but also into their own memories, experiences, situations and feelings experienced at school, looking for ways to talk about the challenges of the education system without losing human connection, to create balanced expectations, not to get angry, but to participate in creating a brighter perspective, a better quality of coexistence, and a more beautiful future. This performance is a journey towards the light that the creators of Taško teatras want to share with you.
During the performance, the audience sits on chairs placed on the stage. Each space we arrive at is unique and requires adaptation, so we cannot predict the specific seating arrangement in advance.
