Taško Theater: "Home," a play based on true events (directed by L. Krivickaitė)

29 November 2026 18:00

“The smell of Mom’s cooking. My sister’s endless chatter. The smell of fresh laundry. Grandpa’s radio blaring. Grandma’s stories as we flip through family photo albums. A hairbrush as a microphone for a living-room concert. Mom’s lipstick and necklaces…”

These are just a few of the memories encapsulated in the word “HOME.” We all feel and perceive home differently, but we all know clearly that “HOME” is much more than just a place to live. But what happens to those for whom home does not evoke such feelings? What happens to those who never find a home in their entire lives? And not a physical one, but an inner one—the kind that sometimes takes a lifetime to build.

The play tells the story of three teenagers growing up in a children’s home who will soon come of age and have to move out to live on their own. However, to everyone’s surprise, a social worker delivers the news—a newcomer is moving in with them. The play’s everyday scenes intertwine with the lives of people who have already left the children’s home. This play is based on true stories from playwright Karolina Urbonė’s time working at a children’s home.

This is a play about the gift of natural love and the never-ending journey toward one’s HOME.
