Taško Theater: documentary performance "Home"

21 September 2024 18:30

The smell of food cooked by my mother. My sister's endless chatter. The smell of clean laundry. My
grandfather's radio playing loudly. My grandmother's stories as we flip through family photo albums. A hairbrush instead of a microphone for a living room concert.
My mother's lipstick and necklaces…

These are just a few of the memories that the word HOME evokes. We all feel and perceive home differently, but we all know that HOME is much more than just
a place to live. But what happens to those for whom home does not evoke such feelings? What happens to those who never find a home in
their entire lives? And not a physical home, but an inner one, which sometimes takes a lifetime to build.

The play tells the story of three teenagers growing up in a children's home who will soon
reach adulthood and have to move out to live independently. However, to everyone's surprise, the social worker announces that they will be getting a newcomer. The everyday scenes in the play intertwine with the lives of people who have already left the children's home. This play
is based on true stories from playwright Karolina Urbonė's work in a children's home.
It is a play about the gift of natural love and the never-ending journey towards one's HOME.
