SUPERTHING (Premiere)
Šeiko Dance Company and Minimi Dance Theater
Lithuania / Finland
Duration: 70 min.
Recommended age: N-12
“Superthing” invites the audience into a landscape where the boundaries between presence and absence dissolve, and silence becomes full of possibilities. Suggestive choreography, layered sound, and ever-changing visuals transform the stage into a living space of longing and hope, reflecting the fragile states of the contemporary world. Bodies and space vibrate with untold stories, frozen moments. The viewer is invited to feel what has been lost, what remains, and what may yet emerge.
“Superthing” is a place where patience and emptiness open the door to new visions of the future. This open, contemplative work invites us to slow down, notice what often goes unnoticed, and reflect on how we might dream together again.
“Silence dwells at the edges of every story. There are spaces—barely remembered, almost lost—where existence hovers in the shadow of nothingness. It was in these very spaces that ‘Superthing’ was born.”
What happens when our stories no longer attempt to define the future? When stories break away from language and memory? We move slowly, sometimes coming to a standstill, trying to hear the pulse, the pause, the breath—signs of life where, it seems, there is nothing. We follow traces and shadows, gestures that merely hint, bodies that appear and vanish again. Here, the choreography is shaped not only by what happens, but also by what remains unfulfilled.
This work invites us to pause at the boundaries: between reality and imagination, togetherness and separation, closeness and distance, sound and silence. The dancers move through a landscape of shifting time, where meanings fade and reappear.
We have created the art of waiting—patiently and impatiently. We invite you to a space where you can perceive not only what is there, but also what is not. Here, absence takes on weight and form. It becomes a silent companion, rather than an empty space.
“We, the choreographers of the performance, invite you to pause for a moment and listen to the stories hidden in the silence,” say the choreographers of the performance.
