"Portraits in Words": Mačernis | 23 and Eternity

“Portraits in Words” is a new experiential literary evening initiative launched by KUFA in collaboration with Word Lab, inviting you to encounter extraordinary individuals through their texts, their times, and their inner states.

The first evening is dedicated to VYTAUTAS MAČERNIS. A poet who did not live to grow old, but who became eternal.

This won’t be a lecture. Not a commemoration. Not a performance. Not just a poetry reading.

This is a living attempt to bring Lithuania’s newest classics to life—through words, light, silence, and questions.

ON THE PROGRAM:

🔹 Live and audio readings of Vytautas Mačernis’s texts, brought
to life by the voices of Valentinas Masalskis and Donatas Stakėnas—on time, existence, eternity, and love. About the author himself, through the words he wrote.

🔹 Visuals:
Projections, excerpts from contemporary documentary footage, archival photographs.

🔹 Music
: Musical interludes inspired by the poetry of Vytautas Mačernis.

🔹 Expert literary insight: Contextual commentary by Ramunė Galdikienė, an expert
teacher of Lithuanian language and literature at Klaipėda Lyceum.

WHO IS THIS EVENING FOR?

For those who have ever felt that their age doesn’t match their mindset.
For those who are concerned with questions about existence.

The event is free, but space is limited.
Registration is required and confirms your attendance.
