The Confession of a Monk is a play that invites the audience on an extraordinary inner journey through human fragility, loneliness, and spiritual renewal. The play is based on the confessions of Sigitas Benediktas Jurčys (Brother Benediktas), which reveal the everyday nature of simplicity, humility, and love.

The structure of the performance is a journey through fifteen stations: from silence, impressions of city life, and nakedness to fairy-tale gardens, education, loneliness, return, maturity, and light. Each station acts as a meditation, inviting you to stop, listen and experience the inner world of a person without masks, without roles, only with the real “I”.

This is a story about the courage to be yourself, the ability to love and accept others, about fragility that becomes strength, and about loneliness that turns into a place for others. Based on the haiku tradition of Matsuo Bashō, the performance introduces the viewer to the rhythms of silence, nature, and life, where each scene is a meditation filled with light, warmth, and compassion.

The Confessions of a Monk is not just a story, nor is it just a prayer. It is an invitation to pause, look at your life, listen to the silence, and feel with your heart that every wound, every mistake, and every moment you have experienced can become light.

Various art forms come together on stage: actors, musicians, and ballet dancers who together create a visual and inner journey. The performance features Sigitas Benediktas Jurčys, Klaipėda Drama Theater actor Edvardas Brazys, Klaipėda State Music Theater soloist Beata Ignatavičiūtė, ballet artists Mykhailo Mordasov, Iryna Suslo, Roman Semenenko, Oleksandra Borodina, and makeup artist Rima Balsienė. Lighting designer – Stasys Jamantas. The music for the production was composed and is performed live on stage by Jonas Raudonius, a promising young composer from Klaipėda, while the directorial vision was realized by Tomas Jašinskas and Taurūnas Baužas. Set design and costumes – Artūras Šimonis. The production company is VšĮ Teorema teatras.
