KUFA Reading Room | The Shadows of Motherhood with Psychologist S. Valevičienė
Meetings with writers and discussions about literature and community spirit continue at the Klaipėda Culture Factory. On March 12, at 5:30 p.m., psychologist Sigita Valevičienė will visit the KUFA Reading Room to present her new book, Motinystės šešėliai (Shadows of Motherhood). This is a unique opportunity to meet a specialist with many years of experience, whose insights help families better understand and overcome the changes that accompany parenthood.
In her book Motinystės šešėliai. Ko nelauki, kai laukeisi. Kaip priimti pokyčius (The Shadows of Motherhood: What You Don't Expect When You're Expecting. How to Accept Change), the author shares not only insights based on scientific research, but also reflections on her many experiences of motherhood. Why can motherhood bring not only joy, but also anxiety or even depression? How do love, care, responsibility, and inner conflicts intertwine? These questions are analyzed through both personal stories and expert opinions.
The event is relevant for young families, mothers, and anyone who wants to better understand the challenges of parenthood. The book can also be useful for experienced parents or grandparents who are helping to raise the next generation.
Sigita Valevičienė is a mother of four children and a psychologist who has been working in the field of pregnancy and motherhood for more than two decades. She counsels expectant and current mothers, gives lectures, works with couples preparing for parenthood, and is a lecturer at the Postpartum Depression Center. The conversation will be moderated by cultural journalist Juta Kiudė.
KUFA Reading Room, which opened in February, aims to promote cultural discussions and bring book lovers together. It is a space for open conversations about literature and life.
Guests are invited to arrive early – a welcome drink and a cozy atmosphere await you. We look forward to seeing you all! The event is free of charge.
