KUFA Reading Room | Meeting with writer Sigitas Parulskis
Meetings with writers and community-building discussions about literature continue at the Klaipėda Culture Factory. This season, the KUFA reading room has become a regular series of meetings that bring together book lovers and writers. The Klaipėda Culture Factory once again invites you to talk about good books and discuss their imagination-stirring ideas. This time, the meeting will be special – it will not only be a meeting with one of the most famous Lithuanian writers, but also a symbolic closing of the KUFA reading room season, during which visitors will be treated to pleasant surprises.
Sigitas Parulskis, winner of the National Culture and Arts Award, is coming to meet readers in Klaipėda. On May 19, at 6 p.m., the author will present his latest book, Patys gražiausi sapnai apie kelią (The Most Beautiful Dreams About the Road), at the Klaipėda Culture Factory.
Celebrating his 60th birthday this year, the writer reveals himself in his latest book not only as a master of good writing, but also as a talented photographer – the book is illustrated with S. Parulskis' photographs, accompanied by related texts and photo stories.
The book Patys gražiausi sapnai apie kelią (The Most Beautiful Dreams About the Road) contains the writer's essays and comments about our space and time. The author, who has been writing for more than 40 years, says that he is from a time when books, texts, and creativity were considered valuable things, phenomena of human spiritual activity.
"This book is about suffering, its causes, and how finding the right path can help overcome that suffering. The only thing left is to find that path. And if you can't find it, at least you'll dream about it," says Parulskis, describing his latest work. At the KUFA Reading Room, Klaipėda residents and visitors to the city will have a rare opportunity to meet one of Lithuania's most famous writers, ask questions, and get an autograph. The conversation with the writer will be moderated by cultural journalist Juta Kiudė. The event is free of charge.
