KUFA Reading Room | M. Ivaškevičius presents his latest novel, "Išvarymas. Londono adata" (Expulsion: The Needle of London).
The author of the cult play "Išvarymas" (The Expulsion), writer Marius Ivaškevičius, continues the stories of Lithuanian emigrants in London in his latest novel "Išvarymas. Londono adata" (The Expulsion. The Needle of London). The KUFA reading room, a new initiative by the Culture Factory that brings readers and writers together for informal conversations on topics important in creativity and life, invites Klaipėda residents to meet the author. The meeting with M. Ivaškevičius at the KUFA Reading Room will take place on Saturday, February 15, at 3 p.m.
Marius Ivaškevičius is a well-known Lithuanian writer, playwright, and author of the play "Išvarymas" (The Expulsion) and the novels "Tomas Mūras" (Thomas More) and "Žali" (The Greens). A play based on Išvarymas was staged in 2011 and continues to be actively attended and discussed by audiences to this day. This work, which lays bare the reality of the lives of Lithuanians who have emigrated to London, has not lost its relevance over the past decade or so, as there is no family in Lithuania that has not been affected by emigration in one way or another. The author himself feels the undiminished relevance of "Išvarymas" and the depth of its themes, which is why he is presenting readers with a new novel that develops the plot of the now classic play. "Išvarymas. Londono adata" (The Expulsion: The London Needle) is Marius Ivaškevičius' latest work, which has already been praised by fans of both theater and literature.
The afternoon with the writer will be moderated by cultural journalist Juta Kiudė, who has hosted cultural programs on LRT RADIO and LRT KLASIKA for many years. This meeting is a great opportunity to ask the writer questions that are important to you and spend time with like-minded people who are interested in literature and theater. During the event, you will be able to purchase the book and get the author's autograph.
KUFA Reading Room will continue to host meetings with the most interesting and popular Lithuanian writers, striving to keep up with the cultural discussions taking place throughout Lithuania. Book lovers from Klaipėda and visitors to the city will meet their favorite writers and discover new ones. It will be a space where we can talk about important topics in literature and life without pathos.
We invite you to arrive a little earlier. Guests will be welcomed with a drink and an opportunity to relax in intellectual company. Lighthearted, but meaningful. We look forward to seeing you all!
The event is free of charge.
