ŠVYTURYS Švyturys is the story of a person living on a lonely island. Surrounded by the restless waters of the sea every day, she reveals the most sensitive moments of her life and shares her greatest joys. What is life like on an island where only birds escape, and no one else knows how dark it gets in the middle of the sea? The lighthouse keeper invites us to explore a world of fantasy and reveals the most sensitive moments of her lonely life. It remains unclear which reality is more real – the one we see when we close our eyes, or the one we see when we open them? The
author of the play, Timotée de Fombelle, says he wanted to tell a story about loneliness. A person who knows nothing about the rest of the world, who lives surrounded by his small memories, on an island of rocks and birds. This is a work about a man whose whole life is a beacon. Here, everyday life merges with the seasons, and the horizon constantly pursues us. And reality is most vivid here when we close our eyes.
