Italian Days in Klaipėda | Opening of Viktorija Skafaru's painting exhibition
Born in Klaipėda but living in Italy for more than a decade, artist Viktorija Skafaru returns to her hometown to present a painting exhibition that will become part of the Italian Days in Klaipėda.
Viktorija Skafaru is an artist whose work combines influences from different cultures: the Tuscan Trecento school of painting, the Orthodox icon tradition, and Japanese sumi-e aesthetics. Through abstraction and figurative painting, her works merge metaphysical, meditative spaces that invite the viewer on an inner journey.
The artist studied art history at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, later honed her skills in Italy, and since 2012 has been actively participating in international exhibitions and art fairs. Her works have been exhibited in Florence, San Gimignano, Milan, Treviso, and in Lithuania – in Vilnius, Palanga, and elsewhere.
The exhibition presents two series of works:
"Mysterious Mountains" – compositions that reject perspective, in which rocks hang in timeless space and form changes its matter.
"Garden of Secrets" – landscapes shrouded in mist, where the only clearly recognizable element is a tree filled with light – a symbol of life and wholeness.
During the opening, the author will talk about her creative process and sources of inspiration.
You can visit the exhibition after the Italian Days until the end of April.
