RECOMMENDED for those who enjoy the dialogue between traditional and contemporary dance
Various dance genres and styles are performed in the circle, but folk dances stand out like no other with their abundance of circles. Circles are used in folk dances all over the world. The circle is a symbol of spirituality, divinity, and transcendence. Folk dances are also said to be such, but during the performance, we will seek an answer to the question of how authentic folk dances are and how much they truly belong to the people.
Spin, spin the wheel, spin it to one side,
Tell me, maiden, will you be mine?
I will not spin the wheel to either side
Do not think, young man, that I will be yours.
You didn't come to me on your own horse,
You didn't give me your own ring.
You came to me on your brother's horse, You gave
me your sister's ring.
The dance performance Suk suk is the first joint work by D. Strimaitis and Šeiko Dance Theater. This project is part of the French-Lithuanian creative collaboration program KlaipeDAnse, which has been running since 2017.
