RECOMMENDED for fantasy lovers and researchers of humanity's future

TECHNO FAUNA looks at the future of human existence, its transformation and adaptation. The performance explores the limits of the body, its archaeology and its ability to change with the environment. Three figures on stage delve into their relationships with each other: in an abstract post-apocalyptic time, refined tactics and power games prevail. A hopeless search for connection? Does a utopian or dystopian future await us? TECHNO FAUNA creates an image of the "new" human being. Technological advances make us powerful, but "is that what we really need?" After all, our everyday biology is an amazing technological invention. And how beautiful is our existence when we can return to it! The Lower Saxony Foundation nominated the performance as one of the most outstanding independent theater productions in Lower Saxony in 2022 and presented it at the BestOFF festival.

Born in Portugal, Liliana Barros is an independent dancer and choreographer living in Germany. Her choreographic works are characterized by a strong and intense stage atmosphere. Her work is highly visual, with a distinctive aesthetic and unique movement language. Introspection and archaism are combined with elegant plasticity and the use of technical elements in a somewhat deconstructed form. Liliana has created several choreographies for dance companies such as the National Theater Mannheim, Ballet des Saarländisches Staatstheaters, Gauthier Dance Company, MiR Dance Company, Dutch Dance Theater, TanzKassel, and others. Liliana has also collaborated on numerous opera productions. Her latest work is the performance ARCHIUM, staged by Staatsballett Hannover (2024).

TECHNO FAUNA speculates on the future of human existence, its transformation and adaptation. It explores the limits of the body, its archeology and the possibility to morph with its surroundings. In an abstract post-apocalyptic time, three figures navigate a realm of relationships, developed tactics, and power plays. A desperate search for connection? Are we facing a utopian or dystopian future destiny? TECHNO FAUNA reaches for a fuller spectrum of the "new" human. As we become attached to the power we gain from our technological extensions, we might ask the question: "Are we not enough?" How beautiful is our existence when we can return to the fact that our everyday biology is, in fact, stunning technological ingenuity? "TECHNO FAUNA" was nominated by the Foundation of Lower Saxony in 2022 as one of the most outstanding productions of independent theater in Lower Saxony and presented at the BestOFF Festival.

Highly visual, her work is characterized by idiosyncratic aesthetics and movement language. Visceral and archaic combined with elegant plasticity and use of technical elements in a somewhat deconstructed form. Liliana has created several commissioned works for dance companies such as the National Theater Mannheim, Ballet des Saarländisches Staatstheaters, Gauthier Dance Company, MiR Dance Company, Netherlands Dance Theater, TanzKassel, etc. Liliana has also collaborated with Opera on several occasions. Her newest creation is the performance ARCHIUM for Staatsballett Hannover (2024).
