Kaz Prapuolenis, an American artist, comic book creator, and writer of Lithuanian descent, shares his creative journey—from studying comics at art school under Art Spiegelman (“Maus”), to publishing comics in “Raw Magazine,” “The New Yorker,” and “Spin,” and creating the weekly alternative comics series “Underworld,” all the way to his work on animated TV series such as “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Camp Lazlo,” and “Phineas and Ferb,” as a storyboard artist and screenwriter for feature-length animated films about SpongeBob SquarePants. As Kaz himself says: “You don’t have to be crazy to make animated films—but it helps!”
