“Atuel” is an award-winning surrealist documentary video game about a river flowing through Argentina’s Cuyo Desert and how the global climate crisis is threatening the region’s historic ecosystem. The game was developed in collaboration with documentary filmmakers and features real interviews with experts.

During the lecture, one of the creators of “Atuel” will discuss the game’s development process, their perspective on the potential of the documentary genre in video games, and the artistic and design choices that helped this story—rooted in a very specific part of Latin American history—gain international recognition.
