Kaz Prapuolenis, an American artist, comic book creator, and writer of Lithuanian descent (“SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Camp Lazlo,” “Phineas and Ferb”) will present the entire creative process behind the “SpongeBob SquarePants” series—from the initial idea (“springboard”), storyboard, and script to the animatic. He will also discuss the early stages of the series’ development—the three-act structure in short-form animation and the creation of a dynamic ensemble of characters. At the end of the lecture, Kaz will compare television animated series created based on storyboards and screenplays and will briefly discuss working on screenplays for feature-length animated films.
