AUTUMN MARATHON FILMS: Premiere of the documentary film Woman and the Glacier (dir. A. Stonys)
Lithuanian scientist Aušra Revutaitė has been living alone for thirty years in the Tian Shan mountains in Central Asia, near the borders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and China. At an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level, her only companions are a dog and a cat. Aušra Revutaitė has been researching climate change at the Tuiksiu Glacier, which has been operating since the Soviet era. She loves the solitude and silence that are essential for meticulous work. The magnificent images of nature captured by cinematographer Audrius Kemežys and archival material reveal the environment that surrounds Aušra Revutaitė every day and provide at least some information about her predecessors. Not much has changed over the years.
