When it’s hard to speak, theater can help you find your voice: Residents of the Klaipėda District are invited to a free performance of “Wonderful Things”

To mark World Suicide Prevention Day, residents of the Klaipėda District are invited to a free performance of “Wonderful Things.”

The performance, taking place on September 8 at 6 p.m. at the Klaipėda Culture Factory, will invite the audience to pause, reflect on what gives life meaning, and speak more openly about emotional struggles.
Suicide prevention is not just about providing help during a crisis. It’s also about being able to notice the person next to you, having the courage to ask, “How are you really feeling?” and understanding that you don’t have to go through difficult times alone.

The play “Wonderful Things” uses theater to make the sensitive and complex topic of mental health more accessible. Audiences are invited to notice the everyday, sometimes very small things that make life worth living, and at the same time to reflect on how important it is to seek connection, hope, and help when they are needed most.

“Sometimes, a person going through a difficult time doesn’t need complicated advice. For them, the most important thing may be knowing that they are not alone. An open conversation, sincere attention, and timely assistance can be a very important step,” emphasize specialists from the Klaipėda District Public Health Office.

The event also aims to reduce the stigma associated with mental health challenges and promote a more open attitude toward emotional well-being.

Culture and the arts can help us talk about difficult experiences in a sensitive way, without judgment or preconceptions.
