"The Bear, the Lion, and the Twig" Contemporary Film Festival

01 October 2026 10:00

From October 1 to 11, the contemporary film festival “The Bear, the Lion, and the Twig” returns to movie theaters.

For the sixth year in a row, the festival is presenting carefully selected films with exceptional cinematic language from Cannes, Berlin, and other major international film festivals. This year’s program is united by the theme “The Courage to Be Yourself”—stories about the freedom to choose, to change, to form connections, to find one’s place, and to live by one’s own rules.

The festival program features the latest works in contemporary cinema and a retrospective of films by director Lukas Dhont. These diverse stories invite viewers to explore the bonds of family and intimacy, youth, loneliness, the boundaries between fiction and reality, and the fragility of everyday life.

Film Club 8 1/2: "The Sacrifice" (U.S., 2026, 103 min.)

16 September 2026 18:00

In director Romain Gavras’s satirical thriller, a seemingly innocent environmental conference in Greece descends into utter chaos when ideas for saving the world clash with radical beliefs and celebrity worship.
Joan (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) and her followers, guided by a mysterious prophecy, are convinced that it is their duty to save humanity. They storm a lavish charity gala and kidnap three unexpected hostages, who are to become part of a sacrificial ritual: their hero—movie star Mike Tyler (Chris Evans), who is trying to regain his reputation; their enemy—the pragmatic billionaire Ben Bracken (Vincent Cassel); and the hapless singer Katie (Ambika Mod). As the night descends deeper into absurdity, the lines between acting and belief, salvation and sacrifice, reality and fiction begin to blur.
This film is a biting satire that mocks the insincere activism of celebrities, our obsession with wealth and fame, and modern society’s tendency to believe even the most absurd ideas. The film also features John Malkovich, Salma Hayek Pinault, and the artist Charli XCX.

Klaipėda and the Region: A Map of Opportunities for Film and Advertising Production // Database Presentation

Where in Klaipėda can you film authentic 1990s Brutalism, where can you find the most cinematic shot of suspension bridges, and where can you find a shot of the sea and sandy shores for an ad?

Location scouting for film and advertising is not simply about photographing beautiful scenes. It is the ability to find and propose a real, three-dimensional atmosphere that matches a line in the script.

After 10 months of intensive research, investigations, and extensive travel throughout the city of Klaipėda and the surrounding region, we invite you to our final overview and reporting event.

From apartment complex neighborhoods to Olando Kepurė, from concrete piers to seaside dunes and iconic lighthouses or forgotten suspension bridges — an internal location database and an interactive map of potential film and advertising locations have been created as a practical tool for directors, producers, and creators, making the initial steps of location scouting easier.
