The cult virtual reality film Angelų takais (Angel Trails), which has captivated hundreds of thousands of viewers, presents a updated 2024 version of the film and is coming to Klaipėda, to the Culture Factory! Starting September 22, all residents and visitors of the port city will be able to immerse themselves in the depths of M. K. Čiurlionis' work with the help of virtual reality.
The updated film "Angel's Path," based on the latest VR trends for 2024
The new version of Angelų takais will delight viewers not only with its updated image quality and expression, but also with enhanced spatial sound and subtle details that will allow them to immerse themselves in the film even more deeply. Project manager Lukas Verpetinskas says, "The first version of the film was released six years ago (2018), so in order to improve and provide viewers with the highest quality film experience, we followed the trends in virtual reality and applied them to the updated version of Angels' Path."
This task was not as simple as it may seem, as the authors not only improved some scenes in the virtual film, but also practically recreated them. "We began to look for principles for transferring Čiurlionis' visual style into virtual space. Before embarking on a journey to another world, we decided to allow the viewer to get used to an unfamiliar space, calm their mind, and help them sink into a meditative state of observation. That's why we tried to fill it with as many nuances and small details as possible, allowing viewers to discover something new each time," shares one of the film's creators, producer Vitalijus Žukas.
The filmmakers paid a lot of attention to working with spatial sound. When creating the updated version of Angelų takai, they brought in specialists from the Netherlands who helped create a new level of sound. "We hope that it will delight even the most demanding audiophiles and help everyone immerse themselves in the wonderful world of Čiurlionis' music," says Kristina Buožytė, director of the virtual film.
By observing the artist's world with their gaze, viewers can not only explore it, but also influence it: by looking closely at certain objects in the painting, the image comes closer and reveals itself in a new way. This interactive experience provides an opportunity to delve deeper, empathize with each of Čiurlionis' paintings, and decipher or interpret the message hidden within them in your own way," confirms V. Žukas.
The most impressive paintings by M. K. Čiurlionis, combined with the artist's music in virtual space, will take viewers on a sensitive experiential journey and allow them to discover the famous artist's work in a new way. The virtual reality film "Angelų takais" (Angel Trails), which has gained recognition on the national and international stage, is a journey that you can experience at the Klaipėda Culture Factory.
Angelų takais (Angel Trails) will reveal the magic of 60 of M. K. Čiurlionis' most beautiful paintings. The music of M. K. Čiurlionis and Mindaugas Urbaitis playing in the background will immerse you in the artist's inner world and allow you to breathe in creative inspiration into your everyday life. It will be like refreshment for the soul.
The film, created by director Kristina Buožytė and producer Vitalijus Žukas, presents Čiurlionis' famous paintings in three-dimensional space: "Tranquility," "Angels," "Altar," "Message," "Angel," "Sun," and others. However, this film is not a simple virtual display of paintings – with the help of VR glasses, the viewer is transported into a whole world created from M. K. Čiurlionis' motifs, where the cycle of the day changes, and daytime paintings can be seen in the twilight of night and vice versa.
